Duncanville defeated Plano West in the finals of the 62nd Annual Sandra Meadows Classic Varsity Girls Tournament held at the Sandra Meadows Arena on December 27-29.

The win keeps their 53 game winning streak in place. The Pantherettes last loss was to Plano West in November 2011. It also drives their season record to 25-0 for the season and puts them well on track to repeat as Texas UIL 5A State Champions.

Plano West falls to 24-2 for the season with both losses coming at the hands of Duncanville.

Ariel Atkins helped the Pantherettes jump out to a 19-11 lead by the end of the first by pouring in 8 points. After that the rest of the lineup began to unleash a scoring fury.

Four Pantherettes finished in double figures, Kiara Perry with 18, Antiona Robinson with 14, Tasia Foman with 13, and Ariel Atkins with 12.

On the defensive end of things, Foman pulled down 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block while Robinson had 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal.

At the half Duncanville had stretched their lead out to 39-21 and in the third quarter Duncanville held the Lady Wolves scoreless for the first half of the quarter, while scoring 10 points themselves. The third quarter ended with the victory well in hand and leading 55-28.

In the final period, Duncanville slowed the game down, scoring only 9 points in the quarter, but defensively only allowed 4 points.

The All Tournament Team featured players from both teams. Natalie Chou, Devri Owens, and Tyara Warren from Plano West, and Destiny Means, Tasia Foman, Ariel Atkins, and Kiara Perry from Duncanville.

Tasia Foman was also named Outstanding Defensive Player, Ariel Atkins was named Outstanding Offensive Player, and Kiara Perry was named Tournament Most Valuable Player
