Pantherettes Pounce on Lady Cardinals 90-41 in District Opener
The Pantherettes hosted the MacAurthur Lady Cardinals on Friday night in the district 7-6A opener and came out with the 90-41 victory.
Duncanville ended the first quarter on a 16-0 run to take a 32-16 lead after the first quarter. From there Duncanville just used a constant change in lineup and never dropped off in intensity to stretch the lead to 49-22 at the half, 78-29 after the third, and then the 90-41 final.
Duncanville was led by junior forward Starr Jacobs with 26 points, junior guard Zarielle Green with 19 points and junior forward Lauren Bowie with 12 points to account for the Pantherettes double-digit scorers.
MacAurthur was led by freshaman Sarah Andrews with 17 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.
The Pantherettes travel to Grand Prairie High for a 6 p.m. game against the Lady Gophers on Tuesday, before taking on the Lady Tigers of Irving High in an away game at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The Pantherettes will then be off for the Christmas break until the 66th Annual Sandra Meadows Classic, which starts Wednesday, December 28 on the DHS campus.
