The Pantherettes versus the Lady Cardinals is typically a close game, but this one might have been too close for comfort as Duncanville squeaked out 59-58 victory last Friday night.

Aniya Thomas led the way for Duncanville with 18 points, followed by Hanna Gusters with 16 points and Angel Kelly with 10 points.

For MacArthur, Sarah Andrews led all scorers with 27 points in the losing effort, followed by Tailor Broussard with 16 points.

The Cardinals had the game all knotted up, 38-38, at the close of the third quarter. Duncanville managed to outscore Irving Mac 21-20 in the last period to take the game.

Missing from the lineup was Duncanville senior forward Zarielle Green, who was not suited up for the contest.

Next up for the Pantherettes is a home game this Tuesday night against Grand Prairie High at 6 p.m., followed by a home game with Irving High School at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The Pantherettes will then have a break in district action, as they are the host team for the Sandra Meadows Classic on December 28-30 at the Sandra Meadows Arena. District play will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 with an away game against Cedar Hill at 6 p.m. on the Cedar Hill High School campus.

Duncanville sits in second place at 18-1 with 1 district win behind 14-0 DeSoto, also with 1 district victory.
