The Pantherettes firmly maintained their grip at the top of Class 5A in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll. Other teams in district 7-5A that are in the top 25 are Mansfield Timerberview (10), and DeSoto, (11). Plano West, which Duncanville defeated in the finals of the Sandra Meadows Classic, remained at number three.

On Tuesday night, the Pantherettes traveled west and took on the Lady Tigers of Mansfield and came away with a 70-33 victory, and extended their season undefeated record to 27-0.

In typical Pantherette fashion, Mansfield was only allowed double digit scoring in one quarter, 11 points in the second, but with 7 points in the first, and 6 in the third and fourth, the defense held strong once again.

On the offensive end ten Pantherettes got in on the scoring, with Kiara Perry leading the way with 18 points. Ariel Atkins had 12 points, and Shannon Franklin and Tamara Washington contributed 10 points each.

For Mansfield, only Syndee Worlds saw double digit scoring with 11 points.

Duncanville returns home on Friday night at 6pm to take on DeSoto.

MaxPreps lists the Pantherettes as the #3 team in the nation, behind Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) and Windward (Los Angeles, CA). USA Today ranks the Pantherettes as the #2 team in the nation, behind Mater Dei, and Windward comes in third.
