Undefeated this season, the Pantherettes take their 15-0 season against Grand Prairie High School tonight to take on the 8-4 Lady Gophers to start District 8-6A action. The game starts at 6 p.m. at the Sandra Meadows Arena on the DHS campus.

The Pantherettes have already garnered statewide and national attention. The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches has Duncanville ranked as the #1 6A team in the state. Fellow 8-6A schools South Grand Prairie and Cedar Hill are also ranked at #6 and #11 respectively.

On the national front, the MaxPreps computer ranking has Duncanville listed as the #1 team in the nation.

The Pantherettes will have an opportunity to catch more attention, as some of the top teams in the nation will be descending on Duncanville over the Christmas holiday at the 65th Annual Sandra Meadows Classic.

Nationally ranked Liberty Christian, Plano West, Vista Ridge, North Shore, and Blackman (Murfreesboro, TN) will be playing in the tournament this year. Along with these ranked teams, powerhouses such as Conway (AR), Fayetteville (AR state champions), Fair Park (Shreveport, LA), Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, CA), McEachern (GA state champions), and Troy (CA) will also be vying for the coveted tournament championship.

So far this season Duncanville’s closest game was a 12-point victory over Plano. This was after Duncanville delivered a 96-47 defeat to Plano in the finals of the Frisco ISD Tip-Off Classic. The Pantherette’s largest victory was an 87-14 dismantling of Bryan Adams.

Going into district play, Duncanville is averaging 76.6 points per game, while holding their opponents to only 39.6 ppg.

The Pantherette’s next game is Tues. Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. against the 5-6 DeSoto Lady Eagles at DeSoto High School.
