The Duncanville Pantherettes traveled to Plano to take on the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday night and walked away with a 66-40 victory.
Duncanville dominated the first half, taking a 36-10 lead into the locker room. While the Wildcats tried to come back, outscoring the Pantherettes 15-12 in the third quarter, the lead was never in jeopardy.
Duncanville took control of the final period and outscored Plano 18-15 to take the 66-40 victory.
On the night the Pantherettes were led by Zarielle Green and Lauryn Bowie with 12 points each, and Starr Jacobs with 10 points was the only other player in double-digits.
For the Wildcats, Katie Ferrell with 11 points and Jordyn Merritt with 10 points were the only players scoring double-digits.
Duncanville will now travel to Pasadena to begin pool play at the McDonald’s Texas Invitational on Thursday.
The Pantherettes first play Dawson High from Pearland, Texas on Thursday at noon, before playing Clear Falls (League, TX) at 6 p.m. that same evening. Duncanville will next take on Cypress Woods (Cypress, TX) on Friday at 3 p.m. in pool play.
Duncanville is still ranked #1 in 6A according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Only Cypress Woods is the only pool opponent ranked in the same poll, and they come in at #9.
The tournament has several top ranked teams according to the TABC preseason poll that are scheduled to play, including the top three teams in the 6A classification.:
