Duncanville avenged last year’s playoff loss to Plano already this year, twice. But the definitive statement was made on Tuesday in their regional quarterfinal match at Colleyville Heritage. Plano tried to keep it close, but Duncanville’s deep bench and relentless play concluded in a 79-47 Pantherette victory.

After one quarter of play Duncanville led 18-12, and that was as close as Plano would get the rest of the night. Duncanville went on a 16-3 run to start the second quarter and went into the half with a substantial 42-28 lead. Also troubling Plano was the fact that both of the Lady Wildcat’s leading scorers were in foul trouble already.

Carissa Moody, Plano’s leading scorer, went into the locker room with four personal fouls and wouldn’t see action the entire third quarter. Without Moody, Plano tried to keep from falling further behind, but the period ended with Duncanville taking a 57-42 lead into the final quarter.

Plano’s woes continued in the fourth quarter as Moody and Plano’s second leading scorer, Lolo Davenport, both fouled out of the game early in the period. Duncanville continued their pressure and outscored Plano 22-5 in the final period to take the 79-47 win.

Duncanville post Ciera Johnson led all scorers with 25 points. Also in double-digits for Duncanville was Zarielle Green with 16 points, and Aniya Thomas with 10 points. Plano was led by Moody with 22 points and Sophie Fleites with 10 points.

Next up for Duncanville is a Friday night game with Midland Lee in the region 1 semi-finals. Midland Lee comes into the game with a 27-4 season record. Midland Lee defeated Arlington Bowie 51-49 to advance.

In the other side of the bracket Plano West (32-4) will face-off against Amarillo (32-4). Plano West beat Cedar Hill 59-57 to advance, while Amarillo downed Franklin 53-43.

The regional semi-finals and championship game will be played at Fort Worth’s Wilderson-Greines Athletic Center. Duncanville and Midland Lee will play at 6 p.m. on Friday, and Amarillo and Plano West will at 8 p.m., following the Duncanville game. The championship game will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Wilkerson-Greines Athletic Center is located at 5201 Ca Roberson Blvd., Fort Worth.
