Duncanville to face Plano West in area playoffs this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Colleyville Heritage High School.
The Pantherettes traveled to West High School to take on the Killeen Shoemaker Lady Wolves on Tuesday night in the bi-district playoffs.
Shoemaker kept the game close for the first four minutes of the first period, with the score 8-8 with 3:38 left in the period. From that point on Duncanville went on a 17-2 run that lasted until two minutes were gone in the second to take a 25-10 lead.
Duncanville continued their offensive domination, taking a 40-15 lead into the half. While the Pantherette defense held the Lady Wolves scoreless for an almost four minute stretch in the second.
Duncanville held the Wolves again to only 5 points in the third, while the Pantherette offense put 20 points on the board.
With most of the starters on the bench in the final period, the Wolves outscored the Pantherettes in the final period 17-14, but Duncanville was simply running out the clock at that point.
Aniya Thomas led all scorers with 16 points. Starr Jacobs with 15 points, Lauryn Bowie with 12 points, and Hannah Gusters with 10 points rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Pantherettes. Gusters pulled down 8 rebounds, had 2 blocks, and a steal to lead the Duncanville defense.
The Lady Wolves were led by Kaleiyah Davis with 11 points. Davis also had 5 rebounds and a steal. Crystal Shepherd 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block.
Duncanville will next take on Plano West in the area playoffs this Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Colleyville Heritage.
