Pantherettes Advance in Sandra Meadows Classic – Down Killeen Ellison 64-38

Duncanville – Despite what the scoreboard said, it was an ugly win for the Duncanville Pantherettes as they advanced in the tournament by defeating Killeen Ellison 64-38.

Missed free throws, layups and sloppy play allowed the Lady Eagles from Killeen to stay in the game, trailing only 33-23 after the first half. Duncanville went 11-18 in the first two quarters from the free throw line and missed several opportunities from inside the paint on layups and put backs. Thankfully Killeen was suffering from bad play as well or Duncanville would have needed to come back in this game in the second half.

In the second half the Pantherette defense shined and held the Lady Eagles to single digit points in both the quarters to take the 64-38 victory.

Leading for the Pantherettes was Zay Green with 23 points, followed by Asha Ross with 12 points.

Killeen Ellison was led by Cielo McClain with 17 points.

Duncanville will next face either Barbe (LA) or Plano East as they meet Friday morning at 10 a.m. to decide who will face the Pantherettes.
