Pantherettes #1 in the Nation!

USA Today released their latest rankings, and the Duncanville Pantherettes have been named the #1 team in the nation.

The Pantherettes finished their season 42-0 and are currently on a 70-game winning streak.

This is on the heels of Duncanville defeating Cebolo Steele 59-36 for their second consecutive 5A state title.

Specifically mentioned were Kiara Perry and her 20 points, and 13 rebounds in the finals, and Ariel Atkins’ 29 points and 5 rebounds in the semifinals against League City Clear Springs.

The team that had been #1 in the nation for most of the year according to USA Today, Mater Dei High School of Santa Ana, CA, dropped to #4 as a result of their 73-72 overtime loss to #22 Etiwanda in the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA semifinals. Mater Dei has a season record of 28-1.
