Pantherette Basketball 2016-2017 Starts Next Week

Can you hear it? That pounding is not your heart, it’s the Duncanville Pantherette’s getting ready for the 2016-1027 season.

After finishing a perfect 39-0, winning the Texas 6A state championship, and being named national champs by MaxPreps and USA Today, the Pantherettes are ready to begin their march to another title.

The season officially begins October 19, but most of the team spent the off-season playing basketball together at several tournaments around the country. Coach Cathy Self-Morgan could not coach the girls, so volunteers stepped in to lead the team.

The season will kickoff with a scheduled scrimmage with Trinity on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Sandra Meadows Arena, followed by another scrimmage against San Antonio Wagner and John Tyler on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at DHS.

The Pantherettes will then participate in the Frisco ISD Tipoff Tournament Nov. 10-12. Other pre-season tournament action will be the Pasadena McDonald’s Tournament Nov. 17-19, Thanksgiving Hoopfest at DHS on Nov. 26.

District 7-6A action begins Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. as the Pantherettes host MacArthur.

Another big event before the new year will be Dec 28-30 as the Pantherettes participate in the 66th Annual Sandra Meadows Classic.

  2. Zay,

I know you may never see this, but I hope you know how many people are inspired by you and how many people you make unbelievably happy. I could never come up to you at school and say this, but so many people adore you and you influence so many people in a positive way. I hope you know that. Ball out this season, aight????
