newtonOn Wednesday, October 19, 2016, one day shy of her 89th birthday, Onnie passed quietly into the presence of her Savior in Midlothian, TX. She was born October 20, 1927 in Bangs, TX to Audie S. and Dacie M. (Welch) Ford.

She married Wm. (Bill) Newton on December 23, 1946, a military man she met and courted via letters. They shared 59 years together before his death in 2006. They loved traveling together and he made sure she saw all 50 states.

Onnie was always looking out for those around her and had a passion for helping them. She was a talented seamstress and crafter and used these talents to make even the smallest of occasions special for people. She enjoyed crocheting scarfs for her friends and church family. She also loved flower arranging, scenic oil painting and nature drives.

She was a member of the Downtown church of Christ in Cedar Hill and was active with Mission Printing.

Onnie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her brother, Clarence Ford.

She is survived by her daughter, Danise Witherspoon; her grandson, Presten Witherspoon and wife, Maggie; great-granddaughters, Cassie and Serenity Witherspoon; and a brother, Cecil Ford.

jaynesA time of remembrance and visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, TX.

Onnie will be interred with her beloved husband at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
