adamsOdie Gene Adams Sr. age 78, (“Pops”) died August 10, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Born September 15, 1936 in Detroit, Texas, Odie is preceded in death by his father Gifford Adams and his mother Thelma Hall Adams and brothers Thomas Samuel Adams and Douglas Edward Adams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann Miller Adams; his five children, Barbara (and Steve) Truesdale, Gene (and Kim) Adams, Brenda Dill, Wanda Adams, and Becky (and Marty) Kirby; four grandchildren, Candy Adams,Stormi Kirby, Tabitha (and Erik) Courtney, and David Dill; two great-grandchildren, Kylar and Zander; and close family friends, Lindsay Alidina, Amy Amaro and Dennis Chappell. He is also survived by sisters, Dorris O’Donnell and Melba Wantland and brother, Aubrey Adams.

Odie was born and raised in Detroit Texas. He worked 27 years for the state of Texas. His passion was sports and he officiated baseball, basketball and football. He was thrilled to be able to retire as an umpire at the state baseball tournament at the pinnacle of his career. He was an avid Cowboys and Longhorn fan.

jaynesFuneral Service is 11:00 AM Thursday August 13, 2015 at Holly Lake Church of Christ, 3173 FM 2869, Hawkins, TX 75765.

Interment will follow at 3PM at Bluff Cemetery in Detroit Texas.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.
