Northwood Adds Qualifiers, National Rankings

Kip Kosgei captured the 800 Meter Run at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open on Saturday afternoon, as the Northwood University Track & Field team has another good day on the Track.

Kosgei’s time of 1:53.31 topped the field of 40 runners, and is the 3rd best time in the NAIA this Season, while Abel Eshete finished 6th in the 1000 meters in 2:34.63, currently ranking him #31 in the NAIA in the event.

Marcus Johnson had another steady day, with season best performances in the 400 (49.62) and 200 (22.51).  Johnson’s 400 meter time ranks him 22nd in the NAIA.

In his first collegiate 400 meter race, FreshmanTray Thompson crossed the line in 50.98, good for 3rd place in his heat.

Northwood’s next competition will be Saturday, February 9 at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational,  as the Kinghts will look to add more qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, to be held March 1-2 in Geneva, Ohio.
