Nine Patriots Named to Heartland All-Conference Teams

The Heartland Conference released the Women’s Soccer All-Conference teams, Thursday, naming nine Patriots either First or Second Team All-Conference, three of those earning additional individual honors.

Junior Danielle Presley, the Patriots’ top scorer, earned Offensive Player of the Year honors, in addition to being named First Team All-Conference. Sophomore Jake Cox was named First Team All-Conference as well as Co-Defensive Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Kate Orkild of St. Edward’s.

Lindsey Eccles earned Co-Freshman of the Year recognition, joining Lea SedwickAnnie WellsAndrea Hutchins, and Kerry Edwards as the remaining Patriots on the All-Conference First Team.

Freshman Ashley Cox and Senior Baylie Hill were each named to the Heartland Conference Second Team. Hill is a repeat winner, earning First Team honors last season, along with Sedwick and Hutchins. Edwards and Jake Cox improve on their Second Team honors from a year ago.

Overall, the Patriots tied with St. Edward’s for most selections, each school placing nine players on the all-conference list. DBU’s five first-team selections is the top total in the conference.

The Patriots will battle for the Heartland Tournament Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, Saturday at 12 p.m., taking on the winner of St. Edward’s and St. Mary’s.
