Mildred C. Treadaway

Mildred Caton English Treadaway, 83, was born June 2, 1929, in Prince William County, VA, to her parents, Charles and Gertrude Caton and passed away July 21, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Virgil English in 1969; third husband, Emory H. Treadaway in 2008; and son, William C. English in 2009.  She is survived by her daughter, Barbara English of Alexandria, VA; and sister, Eleanor Caton Younger of Sarasota, FL.

Mildred, a graduate of Osbourn High School, Manassas, VA, in 1947, married Wm. Virgil English in 1949.  She later became associated with English Transfer in the early 50’s and then worked as a clerical employee for several local businesses inWarrenton, VA.  In October of 1963, she became the office assistant to the County Treasurer, J. E. Cox, from which she resigned in 1976.  She remarried in 1971 to Lynn R. Spurgeon.  The marriage to Lynn Spurgeon, now deceased, ended in divorce in 1981.

Upon returning to Warrenton, VA, from Coeur A’Lene, Idaho, she became employed by AT&T in Herndon, VA, and retired in 1991.  In 1996, she married E. H. (Bud) Treadaway and had resided in Dallas, TX.  She was active in several churches within Prince William County and Fauquier County as an organist.  She completed 56 years as a church organist, beginning at the age of 12 at Sudley Methodist Church near Catharpin, VA.  At the time of her death, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Duncanville, TX.

Memorial services are 3:00 PM, Friday, July 27, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Duncanville, TX.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
