Midlothian Lady Panthers Fall to the Pantherettes

Fifty-nine straight wins.

The current winning streak for the Duncanville Pantherettes is at fifty-nine wins and counting after defeating the Midlothian Lady Panthers by a score of 55-22.

The Lady Panthers came into the game 2-7 record, and the Pantherettes had already defeated Midlothian by a score of 59-28 earlier this season.

ettes_midlo_001The Pantherettes jumped out to an 11-point lead before Midlothian scored with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter. Midlothian managed to score another bucket with less than 10 seconds remaining, but the Pantherettes had stretched the lead to 19-4 by the end of the period.

In the second, Midlothian tried the same strategy as they did in the first game, they slowed the game down and held the Pantherettes to only 6 points in the quarter. The Pantherette defense however held Midlothian to only 4 points in the quarter to give Duncanville a 25-8 lead going in the half.

He third quarter saw the Pantherettes go on a 12-0 run to start the period and take a more than commanding 37-8 lead. Duncanville went onto score 8 more points, while holding Midlothian to only 5 points to go into the final quarter with the Pantherettes leading 45-13.

ettes_midlo_002The final quarter was Duncanville’s also, scoring 10 points, to Midlothian’s 9 points and Duncanville took the 55-22 victory.

Defensively the Pantherettes dominated again with twice as many rebounds, 17 more steals and 4 blocked shots. Ariel Atkins and Morgan Chambers had 5 rebounds each, with Kiara Perry and Tamara Washington pulling down 4 boards each. Atkins also led the way with 5 steals, while Antoina Robinson had 2 of the Pantherette’s 4 blocked shot.

Offensively the Pantherettes were led by Perry with 20 points, Robinson with 8, and Atkins and Tasia Foman contributing 6 points each.

The Midlothian scoring was led by Kayla Robinson with 11 points, and Crystal Sellars with 5 points.

The Pantherettes will next face the 7-3 Lady Longhorns of Cedar Hill High School on Friday night at 6PM at the Sandra Meadows Arena on the Duncanville High School campus.
