Michael Tom Asbjornson, age 52, passed away on July 12, 2016 at Medical Center in Arlington, Texas. He was born on October 5, 1963, in Billings, Montana to John Oscar Asbjornson and Gayle Murray Asbjornson.
Mike grew up in Lewistown, Montana. His family moved to Texas and he later graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in Texas in 1982. After high school he attended Cisco Junior College where he played football. He later attended UT Arlington where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He then graduated from El Centro in 1994 with his RN license. Mike was married to Cherie’ Ferguson Asbjornson in 1993 at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, Texas. They were happily married for 23 years. They had three children. He was a dedicated family man, loving husband, and father. In 1995 he began work for Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas as an RN and worked there for 20 years. He loved to bicycle and you could often find him on one of the many mountain bike trails in the Dallas area. He loved to work out almost as much as he loved his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Beth Asbjornson.
He is survived by his wife, Cherie Asbjornson of Grand Prairie; his son, Christian Asbjornson, age 21, and daughters, Danielle Asbjornson, age 17 and Erin Asbjornson, age 16, all of Grand Prairie. He is also survived by his mother, Gayle Asbjornson of Irving, Texas, and Jose Perez; his father, John Asbjornson and wife, Marlene, of Alvarado, Texas, along with multiple cousins throughout the country; and nine nieces and nephews all living in Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cameron Byrd Legacy Fund through Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill.
