Methodist Charlton Auxiliary Hosts Art Competition for Area High Schools

The Methodist Charlton Medical Center Auxiliary recently hosted its annual high school art competition, exhibition, and reception. The goal of this recognition program is to identify, honor, and encourage artistic talent in community high school students.

Area high school students from Lancaster, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Cedar Hill participated in the competition. Judges for the competition were Methodist Charlton Auxiliary Member Virginia Skeen; Jorge Saldivar, MD, Methodist Charlton medical staff president; and art theory teacher Leslie Shimonura.

Winners and cash prizes were awarded as follows: first place: Alexis Reyes ($100); second place: Priscilla Alexander ($75); and third place: Rebekah Oakes ($50). Honorable mentions went to Thao Ta, Joseph Taylor, and Shaquaylah Hegger. All contest participants received a certificate of appreciation for their work as community artists.
