Men’s Golf in Eighth at Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate

The Men’s Golf Team opened up the season with a seven-over par 291 and will head in to day two of the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate in ninth place.  Senior Austin Struble led the Patriots on day one at Diamonback Golf Club in Abilene, Texas, with his opening round, even par 70.  Struble is currently in eight place individually, six shots shy of the outright individual leader.

Freshman Josh Aguilar also had a strong showing in his first collegiate tournament by carding a one-over par 71, currently sitting tied for 14th place individually.  Freshman Kyle Beard fired a two-over par 73 and Senior Jeffrey Juillerat and Junior Johnny Antle both tabbed rounds of 74.  Senior John Olin rounded out the Patriots’ efforts with a seven-over par 78.

“I think there is definitely room for improvement tomorrow but I am pleased by the way our guys competed out there today on the course,” stated Head Golf Coach Kenny Trapp.

The Patriots will be back in action again Tuesday morning for round two of the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate in Abilene.
