Mary Elizabeth Conaway January 11, 1942 – September 14, 2016

conwayMary Elizabeth “Beth” Conaway, age 74, went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2016 after a long battle with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and kidney failure.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend and teacher.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Leitha Davis Allen and John Wesley Allen.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Edward Conaway and children, Tonja Conaway Vick and husband, John Vick, Randy Conaway and fiancé Gabriela Marti, & Chris Conaway and wife Theresa Conaway. She had 7 cherished grandchildren, Andrew Dimio, Cynthia Conaway Brooks and husband Brandon Brooks, Seth Dimio, Johanna Conaway and fiancé Joey, Amanda Conaway, Sabrina Conaway and Emma Conaway. She also had Haley Jilek and husband Bobby Jilek and Courtney Nash that called her Gram, as well.

She had countless friends from her High School days at South Oak Cliff High School that she kept up with over the years that were a big part of her life and have been like a family to her as well.
Mom was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on January 11, 1942. She and her parents moved around following the steel work her father was doing and later established her home in Dallas, Texas. She attended North Texas State College and The University of Texas at Arlington and received her B.S. in Math, Education and a Masters in Library Science. She taught in Dallas, DeSoto, Duncanville, Midlothian, and Red Oak. She was a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and had countless honors bestowed upon her throughout her teaching career which spanned 29 years.

Although teaching was one of her loves, her first love was always her family. She never missed a practice or game or recital for her 3 children and was a devoted and loving grandmother, affectionately called “Gram”, to her grandchildren. She was as much a part of their lives as she could be and loved them all unconditionally.

jaynesVisitation is 6-8 pm, Friday, September 16, at Jaynes.

Funeral service is 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 17, also at Jaynes.

Inurnment in East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Arkansas, will take place at a later date.
