Mary Elizabeth Brown Ashcraft, age 92, passed into eternity on March 22, 2017 in Duncanville, Texas with family at her side. She was born April 27, 1924 in Overland Park, Kansas to Edward Ren and Mary Margaret (Myers) Brown.

The family moved to California when she was 18 months old. She grew up in Southern California where she attended schools in Garden Grove and met her husband, Bob, through mutual friends.

Mary and Bob moved to Willows, California in 1947 where they farmed in the Bayliss area for many years. During those years she raised three daughters, was a member of the Jacinto Grange, the Glenn Baptist Church, The Soroptimist Club, and worked at the Glenn County Assessor’s office. In 1980, they moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where they worked at and were part owners of a rental car agency prior to settling into retirement. After Bob’s passing in 1997, Mary relocated to Duncanville, Texas to be closer to family.

Mary was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and being with her family. She loved being near the beach and her ashes will be spread near Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where her husband’s ashes were spread.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Ashcraft; son-in-law, Gary Peterson; granddaughter-in-law, Laura Davis; and her siblings, Clarence Brown, Delmar Brown, Marge Windsor, and Harvey Brown.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Candance Reese, Janice Davis and husband, Reid, and Roberta Peterson; grandchildren, Andrew Davis, Rebekah Davis, Joel Davis, Juanita Thornton and husband, Mitch, Sarah Hoxie and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Nicole Davis, Mikaela Davis, Brenan Davis, James Hoxie, and Michael Thornton.
