The Friends of the Duncanville Public Library will hold their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, October 23 at 7pm in the Library’s Programming Room located at 201 James Collins Blvd.

“After a brief business meeting, we’ll have a presentation and reading by Dorothy Burton, author of Why We Fall,” said current president Dian Lemons. Everyone is invited and refreshments will be served.

“Other items up for discussion include the upcoming Author Appreciation Gala on November 1 honoring Duncanville resident James Donovan, who has written A Terrible Glory about Custer’s Last Stand, and The Blood of Heroes which is being touted as the definitive account about the Alamo. So, you can see we’ll have a full evening of information and entertainment and everyone is invited,” said Mrs. Lemons.

Mrs. Burton, a former 4-term city councilmember of the Duncanville City Council now serves as an inspirational speaker and blogger, and her book Why We Fall “helps the reader identity, control, and overcome things common to us all,” according to Dr. Tony Evans in the book’s foreword.

One Response to Library Friends Meeting to Feature Local Author Dorothy Burton

  1. Many folks in Duncanville once considered Dorthy a dear friend and where deeply wounded when she threw us all away as she left the council a few years back.

My hope is that her time away has given her some perspective on this and that her speaking date at the library signals her return to the larger community.

    She has been missed.
