Fans who made the trek to Abilene, Texas, on Tuesday night to watch the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team (12-5) take on Abilene Christian (7-12) were treated to a shootout as DBU rallied for a five set victory, winning the final game 18-16 to take the match. After losing Game 1, the Lady Patriots split the next two games with the Wildcats before coming back to win the last two, including holding off ACU on match point twice in the final game at 15-14 and 16-15. The win was a brief respite from conference play for DBU before they return to Heartland Conference play on Thursday against Newman University.

On the night, three different Lady Patriots recorded double-digit kills as Kristin Secord went for 15 and both Ashley Kayand Erika Papadeas continued their hot play with 13 apiece. The two-setter system of Tyler Bradsher and Kaycie Birdwent for 29 and 23 assists, respectively, while Cameron Hartson commanded the back row with 27 of the team’s 82 digs in the match. The defense held ACU to a .196 hitting percentage and recorded six solo blocks on the night, with Secord leading the way with a pair. The Lady Patriot offense only hit at a .215 clip collectively but Secord again led the way in attack percentage with a .484 mark to record her team-high kills.

The Lady Patriots will continue their four game road swing with three conference matches before returning home October 20 to take on Southern Arkansas at 3:00 pm in The Burg Center.
