Colorado Christian is one of the top teams in the National Christian College Regional Tournament being held in McPherson, Kansas this weekend. The Cougars put up a fight against the Lady Patriots, but Dallas Baptist ultimately prevailed in a five game match after winning the final game, 15-12.

DBU won the first two sets of the match, 25-19 and 25-23, before falling in the next two games, 25-17 and 25-18. That set up the winner-take-all fifth set at Ed Pyle Sports Complex and DBU now moves on to the winner’s bracket game this afternoon at 4:00 pm.

For the second straight match at the NCCAA Tournament, three Lady Patriots finished the game with double digit kills – led by Kristin Secord and her 14. Krystal Wunderlich continued her torrid play with 11 kills and Christina Steinkrugerfinished with 10. Wunderlich, Kaylyn Frink, and Cameron Hartson each contributed 13 digs to lead the Lady Patriots.

The gamechanger for the Lady Patriots was their ability to attack at the net. DBU hit .285 in the games they won, .076 in the two games they lost. “Our play at the net was the difference for us,” said Head Coach Cathy Ray Kokel. “When we gave each other time and worked for good attacks, we were really good today. When we got in a hurry because of bad passes, we got in trouble.”

The Lady Patriots will play again Friday afternoon as they await a 4:00 pm gametime.
