Lady Patriots Walk Over Warhawks

Avenging a loss from earlier in the season, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriots (16-7) drove to Abilene, Texas, on Saturday and led the McMurry Warhawks (13-8) from nearly start to finish in a 3-0 sweep. The three-set sweep matches the same score the Warhawks beat the Lady Patriots by two weeks ago. In Saturday’s match, there were only two lead changes the entire day, and those came within the first five points of the second game.

In the three games, three Lady Patriots struck for double-digit kills, led by Erika Papadeas with 17. Tiara Iwegbucontinued her fantastic offensive play with 11 kills and Kristin Secord remained solid with 10. Tyler Bradsher andKaycie Bird split 40 assists on the afternoon.

Defensive, the Lady Patriots only had 36 digs on the day, led by Cameron Hartson and her nine, due to their solid play at the net. Iwegbu and Ashley Kay each turned in four block assists on the afternoon as part of the Lady Patriots’ 15 blocks in the match.

Dallas Baptist will return to action on Halloween night as they ready for play on the road with West Texas A&M. After that match, they return to conference play for their final three matches of the regular season before the Heartland Conference Tournament begins.
