Trailing 20-13 in the fourth game Thursday night in Odessa, but leading the match two games to one, the Lady Patriots (9-4, 5-1) stormed back to win the decisive set, 26-24, over UT-Permian Basin and claim their fifth conference win in six tries. DBU had won Game 1, 25-19, before falling 25-12 in the second set. The Lady Patriots took control of the match with a 25-17 win in Game 3 and mounted the fantastic comeback in the final set to take the win.

For DBU, Kristin Secord and Erika Papadeas led the offense with 17 and 14 kills, respectively. It was the Patriot defense, however, that set the tone for the match and that group was led by Cameron Hartson who turned in 32 digs in the four games. Tadam Mergener also chipped in 15 while Papadeas had 12 of her own. Secord also had a big hand on the defensive side of the net as she led the Lady Patriots with four blocks.

With the win, DBU remains in second place in the Heartland Conference and will turn around to host McMurry University on Saturday in The Burg Center. That game is set to start at noon and, although McMurry has been accepted as a member of the Heartland Conference, will not count in the Heartland standings until McMurry completes a provisional period of play.
