Led by Sophomores Chelsey Sills and Mercedes Rios, the Lady Patriot Golf Team shot a school record, single round total of 297, to polish off a seventh place finish at the UCO Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma, against several nationally ranked opponents on Tuesday at Lincoln Park East Golf Course.

Sills secured an 11th place individual finish as she carded a two over-par 72 in Tuesday’s round, which was an improvement from Monday’s round of 76, and a two-day total of 148.  Rios recorded another solid final round of tournament play for the Lady Patriots as she shot a three over-par 73 on Tuesday, good enough for a 14th place individual finish with a two-day total of 149.

Freshman Erin Barrington also had a strong finish for the Patriots as she matched Rios’ second round score of 73,  finishing in 27th place with a two-day total of 151.

“I was proud of the way our girls finished today in the final round.  These girls demonstrated what it means to compete in the final round of play against great teams,” stated Head Golf Coach Kenny Trapp.

Also contributing to the Lady Patriots’ record-breaking performance was Freshman Kailey Glenn, who fired a final round 79, finishing in 64th place with a two-day total of 157.

The Lady Patriots will be back in action on October 17 and 18 at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas.
