Lady Patriots Lose in Three Sets to St. Edward’s

The Lady Patriot Volleyball Team (13-7, 7-3) traveled down I-35 to Austin on Wednesday night to take on Heartland Conference opponent St. Edward’s (12-6, 7-3). There, they fell to the Hilltoppers in three sets to drop into a tie for second place in the conference, trailing undefeated Fort Smith by three games in the loss column and running alongside the team that handed them their latest loss.

On this night, the Lady Patriots struggled to score points as they fell 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17. DBU allowed St. Edward’s to hit .349 on the night and mustered only a .149 attack percentage themselves. Only one Lady Patriot, Kristin Secord, recorded double-digit kills in the match as she finished with 10. Kaycie Bird and Tyler Bradsher finished the night with 14 and 13 assists, respectively, and Cameron Hartson led the way on defense with 14 digs.

The Lady Patriots will return to action in a non-conference match on Saturday, October 20, as they welcome Southern Arkansas to The Burg Center at 3:00 pm. They will return to conference action on October 25 when UT-Permian Basin travels to Dallas for a 7:00 pm match.
