With tomorrow’s morning temperature expected to be in the 40’s, the DBU Lady Patriot Golf Team took advantage of the warm weather and cloudless sky to shoot a team score of 303, five shots off the lead after 18 holes. Mercedes Rios paced the group with a 73, one shot over the par 72. Kailey Glenn added a 4-over, 76, while Erin Barrington and Laken Trahan followed with a pair of 5-over pars. Chelsey Sills chipped in to the outstanding team round with a 78.
Overall, there are seven teams within ten shots of the lead as the Lady Patriots currently sit in fourth place. Tomorrow will be a battle with the Golf Course of Dallas and with the elements. Head Coach Kenny Trapp was asked about the possible conditions for tomorrow’s round and dismissed them quickly as he said, “It will be the same for everyone. We know what they are going to be, we are familiar with the course, it is just a matter of going out and playing golf. It will be cooler than we’re used to and it may be wet, but that is just a chance to show our mental toughness and to not let the conditions bother us.”
Round two’s tee times will begin at 8:30 am Tuesday with each group teeing off Hole #1 at Golf Club of Dallas.
