The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team improved their overall season record to 8-11 on the season after coming from behind to defeat Heartland Conference foe Texas A&M International, 3-1, on Thursday night on the DBU campus.

With the win, the Lady Patriots improve their Heartland Conference record to 3-3 to sit tied for fourth in the conference standings.

DBU seemed sluggish in set one as they tried to shake off a six match losing streak, giving an early lead to the Lady Dustdevils, 1-0, with a 25-19 loss to open the match.

The Lady Patriots looked like an entirely different team for the rest of the match as they turned it around in the second set by defeating the Lady Dustdevils, 25-19, quickly erasing TAMIU’s lead.  DBU took their momentum into set three, barely able to fend off a desperate A&M team, who wanted no part of a Lady Patriot lead as DBU they won, 26-24.

Set four was all DBU as they cruised through the Lady Dustdevils, who could not overcome the Lady Patriot’s stellar defensive.  DBU held TAMIU to a .053 hitting average in the final set to break their six match losing streak with a 25-19 victory to defeat the Lady Dustdevils, 3-1.

Sophomore Krystal Wunderlich led the Lady Patriots on the offensive side of the ball in the win as she recorded a game high 17 kills, hitting to a .302 average.  Sophomore Cameron Hartson had 20 defensive digs on the night to lead DBU in the win.

The Lady Patriots are back on the court in Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they host the Lady Rattlers from St. Mary’s University.  The match is set to begin at 12:00 noon at the Burg Center on the DBU campus.
