For the second straight year, the Lady Patriot Golf Team is the NCCAA Champions and for the second consecutive week, a Lady Patriot has earned individual medalist honors.

The Lady Patriots posted a 309 on Tuesday, after their Monday 304, to win the NCCAA Championship by a total of 16 shots over Oklahoma Christian University. “What a great win for our girls on this golf course. I can’t tell you how proud I am of them after all of the hard work they have put in this fall,” stated Head Coach Kenny Trapp.

Sophomore Erin Barrngton recorded her first victory of the season and third top-ten finish after her stellar two round total of 145 at Hombre Golf Club. Barrington posted an even par 72 on Tuesday to follow up her first round total of 73, good enough for a NCCAA Championship individual title. Barrington also picked up NCCAA All-American honors with her victory on Tuesday.

“Very proud of Erin and how she competed this week. She has put in a great deal of work this fall and surely deserves this honor,” stated Trapp.

Red-hot Junior Mercedes Rios finished runner-up to Barrington after posting a five-over par 77 on Tuesday. Rios’ second place finish and two round total of 151 also earned her NCCAA All-American honors for the 2012 NCCAA Championship.

Rounding out the Lady Patriots’ NCCAA All-American honorees was Freshman Sydney Williams who tied for sixth place after rounds of 77 and 80, respectively. Senior Courtney Burris (80-83) and Freshman Macie Seeker (85-80) rounded out the Lady Patriots’ NCCAA Championship title.
