Lady Patriot Golf in Seventh at NCAA DII Fall Preview

The Lady Patriot Golf Team got off to a solid start on Sunday as they fired a team 312 in round one of t the NCAA DII Fall Preview at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.  The Lady Patriots stand just seven shots back of the round one leaders, Barry University and Lynn University.

Leading the way for the Lady Patriots was Freshman Sydney Williams who carded an opening round 74 on the ever-so-challenging LPGA International.  Williams tallied a pair of 37’s on the front and back nine to conclude her two-over round of 74 and sits two shots back of the individual lead.

“Very proud and pleased with the way the Sydney played out there today,” shared Head Coach Kenny Trapp.  “She handeled herself exceptionally well out there today on this tough course.”

Junior Mercedes Rios added to the Lady Patriots’ solid first round with a solid one of her own.  Rios fired an opening round 77 and currently stands in 15th place overall.  Also competing for the Lady Patriots was Sophomore Erin Barrington (opening round 80), Freshman Macie Seeker (81), Senior Courtney Burris (83), and Freshman Abbey Bradley (89).

The Patriots will be back in action on Monday for round two of the NCAA DII Preview at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.
