Lady Patriot Golf Finishes in Seventh After Round Three Rain Out

Thunderstorms produced a round three cancellation of the NCAA Division II Preview for the Lady Patriot Golf Team.  Tournament officials ruled on Tuesday that the final results of the tournament would be that of the day one and day two totals.  The Lady Patriots would remain in seventh place overall for the tournament and Freshman Sydney Williams captured her first top-three finish as a member of the DBU Women’s Golf Team.

“Unfortunate that the tournament had to end that way as we were confident heading in to day three,” stated Head Coach Kenny Trapp.  “I am very proud of the girls for battling out there on this tough course these past two days.”

Williams carded rounds of 74 and 72 en route to a second place individual finish for the Lady Patriots’ strongest tournament field of the fall season.

Sophomore Erin Barrington recorded a top-20 finish for the Lady Patriots with her two-day total of 155 (80-75) while Junior Mercedes Rios finished the tournament in 33rd (77-73-153).

Rounding out the tournament for the Lady Patriots was Freshman Macie Seeker (81-83), Courtney Burris (83-88), andAbbey Bradley (89-83).

The Lady Patriots will be back in action on October 1 as they will travel to Edmond, Oklahoma, to compete in the UCO Classic at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
