Lady Patriot Golf Captures 2nd Place Finish in Austin, Williams Finishes in 3rd

After battling tough conditions in Ausin, Texas, on Monday, the Lady Patriots jumped two spots on Tuesday to finish second place in the St. Edward’s Invitational at Grey Rock Golf Club.  Led by Freshman Sydney Williams, the Lady Patriots fired a final round 319, second best on the day.
golf_dbu_austin_womenWilliams fired a final round 76 on Tuesday to capture third place medalist honors, securing her third top-three finish on the season.  “I am very proud of Sydney as she competed to the end and didn’t give in despite the tough conditions,” stated Head Golf Coach Kenny Trapp.

Sophomore Erin Barrington recorded her fifth top-15 finish on the season with rounds of 83 and 80, respectively.  Barrington’s two day total of 163 secured an 11th place individual finish.  Also contributing to the Lady Patriots’ efforts on Tuesday was Junior Mercedes Rios who fired a final round 81, good enough for her fifth top-25 finish this season.

Rounding out efforts for the Lady Patriots were Freshmen Macie Seeker (88-82) and Abbey Bradley (90-88).  With this second place finish, the Lady Patriots record their sixth top-three finish in just seven starts.

“We definitely battled both days and didn’t give in.  I am very excited about this team because of the way we kept grinding in very tough conditions,” shared Trapp.  “Looking forward tohaving a week off to work on a few things before we head to California.”

The Lady Patriots will be back in action March 11-12 as they travel to Chico, California, to compete in Chico State University’s golf tournament.
