Lady Knights Go 3-1 In First Home Games

The Lady Knights hosted their first home games this weekend and went 2-0 against Southwestern Christian University on Friday (Mar 1) and split 1-1 with University of Houston Victoria on Saturday (Mar 2).

The Knights’ bats came alive hitting in a total of 48 runs over the weekend for the Knights.

Northwood played against Southwestern Christian University on Friday at 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

The Knights won the first game 8-0 behind the pitching of sophomore Megan Spence.  Leading hitters were designated player Taylor Jones, short stopBethany Armstrong and catcher Kaylan Pruit.

The second game was another win for the Lady Knights with a score of 11-2.  The winning pitcher was senior Katie Cowan.  Catcher Kaylan Pruit led the hitting going 2-2 with 3 RBIs.

Saturday brought a new competition for the Lady Knights who played against University of Houston Victoria.

The first game was played at 1:00pm.  The Lady Knights went back and forth with the Lady Jaguars during a grueling 7 innings.  The Jaguars led 12-7 at the bottom of the 4th inning.  Junior Christine Blankenship hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th making the score 10-12.    The Knights came back in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game 12-12.  The Lady Jaguars scored four runs in the last inning.  Although the Lady Knights came back and scored two runs they were unable to grab the win.  The final score was Jaguars-16 Knights-14.

In the final game Saturday, the Knights determined to grab the victory and scored 15 runs.  Leading hitters for Northwood were short stop Bethany Armstrong who went 3-5 with three doubles and left fielder Taylor Jones who went 3-3 with two doubles and one grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Senior pitcher Katie Cowan got the win.

The Lady Knights play Tuesday (Mar 5) against Benedictine (Kan.) at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at Knights’ Field.
