The Dallas Baptist Patriot Women’s Soccer Team continued their outstanding play, Thursday, traveling to Texas A&M International University and earning a 3-1 win behind a pair of goals from Dixie Kurrus. The Patriots now stand at 10-2-0, having won six straight games, 4-1-0 in Heartland Conference play.

The Patriots struck with two early goals, just 90 seconds apart, both before the 10-minute mark. Lea Sedwick knocked in the first, an unassisted goal from 10 yards out. Kurrus added the second, this time assisted by Lindsey Eccles.

The Dustdevils immediately countered, however, as Karina Garcia opened the scoring for the home club, knocking in an unassisted goal.

Five minutes into the second half, Kurrus struck again, knocking in an unassisted score from 20 yards out, her fourth of the season. Both teams went scoreless for the final 40 minutes, ending the contest in a 3-1 decision.

DBU outshot the home club, 18-5, putting nine shots on goal, compared to two for the Dustdevils. Kerry Edwards (10-2-0) registered one save and allowed the one goal.

For Texas A&M International (7-2-0), Aissa Pedrazza earned six saves. The loss ends a seven-game winning streak for the home club, and also provided the first conference loss for the Dustdevils, also 4-1-0 in Heartland play.

The Patriots will continue on the road this weekend, heading to San Antonio to take on St. Mary’s University, Saturday at 12 p.m.
