jonesKent David Jones was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 15, 1952. He passed away August 25, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.

Kent earned his Eagle Scout award in 1967 and was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of The Arrow. He grew up in Oak Cliff and attended Justin F. Kimball High School, graduating in 1970. He then attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with a Math Minor. He graduated with high honors. After college, Kent was a shoe salesman at Titches from 1975-1976, a drive thru teller at Oak Cliff Bank in 1976-1977, and then took employment with the City of Dallas as a computer programmer from 1977 until his retirement in 2005.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Mae Cudnohufsky and James Thomas Jones. Kent is survived by his wife Sharon; son, Jonathan and his wife Adriana, and son, Kevin and his companion, Amamda; grandson, Kaden; and brothers, Michael and Patrick.

Kent was involved in many of his son’s activities including baseball coach for both sons at one time, soccer coach, scout leader for 16 years, and a marching band booster for 8 years. He was also a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Magna Charta Barons.

jaynesDuring retirement Kent enjoyed yard work, walking the dogs, watching TV and going on vacations to New York, Vegas, California, Colorado, Alaska, Yellowstone, Utah, and Hawaii.

Memorial Services are 10:30 am, Saturday, September 10, 2016, at New Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 311 S. Cockrell Hill Rd, Duncanville, TX, 75116.
