Katy Tompkins Edges Duncanville Boys in Texas Invitational Championship Game

The Duncanville Panthers varsity basketball team were edged out by Katy Tompkins Falcons 59-54 in the Gold Division championship game at the McDonald’s Texas Invitational.

Duncanville held a five-point lead starting the fourth period before the Falcons went on a 9-0 run to take the lead, holding onto it for the rest of the game. Duncanville held its largest lead, 28-17, in the second period before Tompkins briefly captured the lead going up 38-36. Duncanville turned it back on to score the final seven points of the first half to go up 45-36 at the half.

Duncanville downed Deer Park 65-61 and Fort Bend Elkins 65-46 in pool play and then defeated Morton Ranch 77-62 and Allen 64-62 to advance to the championship game.

Next up for the Panthers is the Thanksgiving Hoopfest this weekend with a 9 p.m. game on Saturday at the Sandra Meadows Arena against Putnam City West out of Oklahoma City.
