jara-dec_1356041871Juana Felix Jara, a long-time resident of the Cedar Hill area, went peacefully in her sleep Tuesday the 18th of December 2012 on her birthday at Charlton Methodist Hospital.  She was well loved and cared for by family, friends, and the medical staff.

Born in 1917 in Banayoyo, Iloco Sur, Philippines, Juana was the second of five children. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and was an elementary school teacher at Banayoyo Central School for 35 years.

In 1984, Juana immigrated to the US and resided in the Dallas County area for the remainder of her life, having been a housewife and stay at home grandma to six of her grandchildren.

jaynesShe loved reading, telling stories, watching TV, gardening, visiting botanical gardens, flowers, plants, taking walks in nature, spirituality, singing hymns, and mentoring.

She was a kind, caring, and loving lady. Her beautiful smile and laughter would light up the room.

Juana is survived by her husband Bonifacio Jara, who is a retired school principal; her children Lilia Garcia, Melba Galanga, and Victoria Jara; her grandchildren Sheri, Jane, Mayflor, Alyson May, Aldri Anne, Reina Diana, John Vernon “Bon Bon”, Mark Julius, Greggy, Joanna Rose; and great-grandson, Ethan Robert “E-bear”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Road in Duncanville. Burial will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in DeSoto. Visitation and Rosary will be 6-9 pm Friday, December 28 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. Rosary will start at 7:00 pm.
