wellsJoyce Juanita Wells was born on August 7, 1939 in Glen Allen, Henrico County, Virginia to Luther Artemus Jones and Mary Esdeliah Anderson. She departed this life on march 10, 2016 to join her loving parents.

Joyce graduated from Germantown High School in 1956 and West Chester (PA) State Teachers College in 1961. While at West Chester, Joyce became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. In 1964 she married Charles (Charlie) G. Wells, Sr. of Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Joyce worked as a school teacher and social worker before becoming a mother to two boys. She stopped working to raise her family, becoming a fun-loving Mom who became a part-time soccer coach/manager and “medic” to Charlie, the boys and others when needed.

After her first grandchild, she became known to all as “Nana.” Known for her wit and wisdom, she was always there to offer help and guidance and on occasion, a swift kick in the rear of unvarnished truth when needed. Sometimes, she would channel her own mother with, “I don’t know but it seems to me…”

Many will remember Joyce fondly including her husband of almost 52 years, Charles G. Wells, Sr.; sons Charles G. Wells., Jr. (Lisa); Michael D. Wells (Mindi); grandchildren Erica, Avrey, Ian, Abbie, and Jada Howard; nephew James L. Wells (Rhonda); grandnephews, Cary and Isaac; and many relatives and friends too numerous to list.

jaynesPer her request no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be held in Dallas, TX and Richmond, Virginia at a later date to be determined.
