Jose “Peping” Altamero, of Dallas, TX, a former Chicago resident, passed away on Monday, July 18, at the age of 82. Born 9th out of 10 children in Ilagan, Isabela Philippines on August 30, 1933. He was the son of the late pastor Tomas and Mauricia Altamero.
He is survived by his wife, Constancia Altamero, and their children as follows: Dennis Altamero and his wife Evangeline, Alan Altamero and his wife Catherine, Mavel Floresca and her husband Carlos, and Cherry Canales and her husband Javier. Two sons, Allen Altamero and Charles Altamero, are deceased. In addition to the surviving are 10 grandchildren – Daisy Altamero, Joy Altamero, Cayla Altamero, Christian Canales, Abigail Altamero, Wolfgang Floresca, Broderick Floresca, Jordan Canales, Chad Altamero and Ethan Floresca as well as 2 great grandchildren – Charles Allen Stateler and Cadence Stateler, in addition to his siblings Esther Penaloza, Tomasa Gorospe, Evangeline Tabayoyong and Tomas Altamero, Jr.
Jose was a Lay Preacher, an active member of United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church of Duncanville, volunteered annually for Amigos Days, taught Sunday School at various churches, was an auto mechanic at the City of Dallas by trade, was known to all as a handyman, and was famous for his fried rice.
Funeral and Interment will be Saturday at 1 PM, at First United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street Duncanville, Texas 75116.
