James “Mickey”` Thomas April 5, 1940 – May 20, 2016

thomasJames Wilbert “Mickey” Thomas was born April 5, 1940, to James “Tom” Thomas and Ophelia (Cotton) Earl, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Mickey left Oklahoma at a young age. He grew up, attended school, married and raised his children in Los Angeles, California. Mickey moved to Texas with his mother and life partner Cynthia in 2005.

Mickey was a part of the management team at the Wolf Range Company, overseeing the quality of manufacturing and distribution of a line of commercial gas ranges, griddles, fryers and ovens for sale to food equipment dealers in the western states. For 33 years Mickey contributed to Wolf’s reputation for quality products and customer service. He retired in 2002.

A sports enthusiast, Mickey was an Oakland Raiders and former Los Angeles Rams football fan, a Los Angeles Lakers basketball fan, as well as a fan of wrestling. Mickey loved fishing and Texas Hold’em. Mostly, Mickey loved family! He was a loving father and grandfather, a cherished cousin to the Earl and Cotton clans, and a welcomed new member of the Stiggers family in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ophelia Earl; father, Tom Thomas; son, David Thomas; and sister, Rose Zeleta Marie Thomas.

Mickey leaves to cherish his beloved memory, his partner, Cynthia; two sons, Derron Thomas and Raymon (Darla) Thomas; 11 grandchildren, Bobby, Calvin, Derron, Diamond, Jayden, Jevon, Kayden, Kendrick, Maiya, Tahjay, and Tiara; 2 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins; and other relatives and friends.

jaynesFuneral services are 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas, with Pastor Michael Booker officiating.

Visitation with the family begins at 12:30 pm.
