James L. Harless, 76, passed away on June 23, 2016, with his family by his side in Duncanville, Texas. He was born on September 20, 1939 in Soper, Oklahoma to Claude Oliver and Leona B. Harless.
In 1958, he graduated in Oklahoma from Hugo High School. After serving in the US Army, he moved to Dallas, Texas. There, in 1961, he met and married his soulmate, Linda Mitchell of Springhill, Texas. Together they were blessed with four daughters and made Duncanville their home. James retired from General Electric after a 31 year career and enjoyed family time with his eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. During their 55 year marriage, he enjoyed traveling the United States, working around the house, and holding hands with Linda.
James is survived by his wife, Linda Harless; daughters, Kim Nix of Timpson, TX, Jan (Daniel) Dagen of Waxahachie, TX, and Kathy (Kelly) Brown of Gray, GA; grandchildren, Randi Kai Yoder (Nix), Ayse Weaver (Nix), Christian Nix, Spencer Davis, Erin Davis, Courtney Dagen, Katy Ferguson (Brown), and Cole Brown; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Glenda Cushman and Dorthy McGary.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Oliver Harless and Leona B. Harless (McQueen); daughter Andrea Jeanene Harless; and brother, Johnny Wayne Kirkpatrick.
Interment will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park in Duncanville.
Visitation with the family will be 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Jaynes Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 26.
