James Edward Blake April 2, 1939 – September 1, 2016

blakeJames Edward Blake, CPM of Duncanville, Texas passed away September 1, 2016 at the age of 77. He was born April 2, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Attorney Harold G. Blake and Helen M. Johnson, in Chicago, IL.

He served his country proudly as an executive with the Army and Air Force Exchange (AAFES). His distinguished 24 year career was highlighted by an eight year assignment at the Pacific Field Office in Tokyo, Japan.

He graduated from Leo Catholic High School and received his BS Degree from Loyola University in Chicago, IL.

Jim enjoyed the ocean, and family gatherings at his cottage in Sea Grove Beach, Florida. Jim liked to travel, loved baseball, enjoyed politics, and was a proud American who was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution Fraternity.

Jim and his family joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Duncanville, TX in 1975 when they relocated from Louisville, KY.

He is survived by his five children, Kevin Blake, Michael Blake, Susan Blake Little, Thomas Blake, Kimberly Workman; and former spouse and good friend, Nancy Blake; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his brother Kenneth Blake of Chicago, IL and Jim’s nieces and nephews, Kathy Aabram of Naperville IL, Jim Blake of Wheaton, IL and Daniel Blake of Bend, OR.

He is also survived by his longtime partner, Maureen Chute. Jim and Maureen traveled extensively and enjoyed their life together. Maureen and her children, Joseph Krebbs, John Krebbs, Kerry Krebbs, Christine Canul, Kathleen Chute and seven grandchildren all made up Jim’s loving family.

Jim’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren are: Brandy Kirby, Zachary Bruhn, Garrett Blake, Nathan Bruhn, Harrison Blake, Jonathan Bruhn, Dean Workman, Drew Workman, Annie Workman, Gretchen Kirby, Nolan Kirby & Jameson Little.

Other family members include: Brother-in-law Roger Crowe, of St. Charles, IL & his wife, Marjorie Crowe; cousin Barbara Youpel of Eddyville, KY and Stacie Richie of Midlothian, TX, who considered Jim as her father.

jaynesMass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Rd in Duncanville.

Visitation is 6-8 pm, Tuesday, at Jaynes with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.
