Head of the Class – 2012 DHS Val and Sal

Duncanville High School 2012 Valedictorian William Jameson and Salutatorian Rachel Cartmell addressed their classmates during the 2012 Commencement Ceremony.

Valedictorian William Jameson will attend Harvard University in the fall to study engineering. During his years at DHS, William was named a 2011 National Hispanic Scholar, was awarded the 2011 ExxonMobil Bronze Medallion at the regional Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards, and was named a 2011 Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship Finalist. He was awarded $390,000 in scholarships. William says he’s looking forward to meeting new people and exploring new places while at college.

Salutatorian Rachel Cartmell will attend Texas Christian University in the fall to study biology. Rachel was awarded $593,704 in scholarships, one of which was the TCU Dean’s Scholarship. As she prepares for the next chapter in her life, Rachel encourages rising seniors to “Live for a greater purpose and do your best every day.” She hopes to continue to do that in the future as a medical missionary and pediatrician.
