Kids and teens who completed the 25-hour reading log were entered in the grand prize drawing. The two winners were selected out of 711 kids and teens who completed reading logs this summer.

Every Hero Has a Story was this year’s Summer Reading Club theme and the library offered 64 free programs with 3,032 patrons making the library their superhero headquarters.

Each year the Duncanville Public Library hosts the summer reading club to provide incentives to encourage kids and teens to read over the summer. Studies show that participation in summer reading programs enables children to maintain essential reading skills during their summer vacation and as a result, they are better prepared for the upcoming school year.
