George Bowman, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 30th, 2012, in Dallas, TX.George was born in Vickery, Dallas County, Texas, August 31, 1920, to parents, George Willard and Bessie (Stewart) Bowman. George was united in marriage to Christine Dove on March 13, 1943.

He was a member of Valwood Parkway Baptist Church.  He belonged to Washington Lodge 1117, Dallas, TX, Past Master; District Deputy Grand Master Grand Lodge of Texas.  George served as Grand Royal Arch Captain of Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas; District Deputy Grand High Priest Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas and received a Grand Royal Arch Chapter Award.  He was also a member of the Royal Arch College; Scottish Rite Mason 32nd degree; Past Patron Duncanville Order of Eastern Star, Vice President of Past Matrons and Patrons Association Order of Eastern Star.

He served in the US Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946 with the 318th Air Service Squadron as an Airplane Sheet Metal Worker. George entered into the carpentry business and in December 1953 entered the Civil Service with the Bureau of Aeronautics at the TEMCO facility.  He participated in the Scout Missile program in 1962. He retired on January 9, 1981 from the Civil Service from the Department of Naval Air Systems as a Quality Assurance Specialist.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Bowman; two brothers, Doris Odell Bowman and Leon Stewart Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Christine Dove Bowman; two daughters, Doris Ann Miller of Duncanville and Kay Lefler and husband, David of Bardwell; two grandchildren, Christie O’Dell and husband, Brian of Wylie and David Miller of Duncanville; three great grandsons, Brent Selby of Duncanville, Timothy Selby of Midlothian, and Ethan Selby of Midlothian.

Graveside services are 11:30 AM, Friday, November 2, 2012, at Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 S. Cedar Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX 75137

Visitation with the family is from 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.
