moonVietnam Veteran, SMSgt Garold “Gary” L. Moon Sr. (USAF Ret.) age 75, lost his battle with cancer and went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary Moon Jr. and wife, Julie; daughters, Leah Watson and Shelly Sierra and husband, Mike; sister, Beverly Hutton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his best friend CMSgt Michael Phelan (USAF Ret.) and wife, Kathi. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Mercer Moon; parents, Milton and Pauleen; brother, Richard “Dick” Moon and grandson, Timothy Watson.

Gary grew up in Duncanville, Texas and graduated from D.H.S. He obtained his Master’s Degree while serving in the Air Force. During the late ’50’s Gary toured the U.S. with recording artist Gene Summers as his drummer. After retirement, Gary returned to Duncanville where he owned and operated a Cleaning and Janitorial business.

jaynesGary is a Past Commander of The American Legion Post 81 and a member of V.F.W. Post 7843 both located in Duncanville.
