Free Vaccinations for Children

Ben Franklin Apothecary has recently been designated as a provider for the Texas Vaccines for Children Program. This program allows eligible children to receive their vaccines for free and pay only a small service fee to the provider. (Ben Franklin – $10)

The State of Texas leads the nation in the number of uninsured and underinsured children; with over 3 million Texas children, 0-18 years, on Medicaid (FFY 2009). Many of these children are not receiving the complete series of immunizations required to protect them from vaccine-preventable diseases. Under the TFVC Program, the following groups of children are eligible to receive their vaccines for free:

  • Uninsured
  • Underinsured children (has health insurance that does not pay for vaccines, has a co-pay or deductible the family cannot meet, or has insurance that provides limited wellness or prevention coverage.)
  • Children who are covered by Children’s Health Insurance Plan, or “CHIP”
  • Children who are of Native American or Native Alaskan heritage, and
  • Children on Medicaid.

In order to ensure the health and future of the children of Texas, we need your help in getting the word out about the program. Parents or legal guardians must fill out a “Patient Eligibility Screening Record” and make an appointment with the Ben Franklin pharmacy team. A “Vaccination Record” would also be helpful in caring for each child.

Vaccinations will be given each Wednesday and Saturday byAPPOINTMENT ONLY! Available times are Wed., 3pm-7pm and Sat., 10am-3pm.

For more information about the program or to sign up, please call (972) 298-4936.

A fully immunized society is necessary to reach optimum eradication of vaccine-preventable infectious disease. With your help, we can reach these goals leading to a healthier Texas.
